2020 Season Cancellation

We would like to thank each and every parent and player for their patience during the shut-in caused by the COVID 19 pandemic.  During this time, we have received many requests to open the fields for play.  Several times, we have been right on the verge and then a new governmental order came now prohibiting the opening.  Three individuals have worked countless volunteer hours, Anthony Northrup, Steve Fisher and Bruce Russel, to keep the fields in playing condition and we would like to express our thanks and appreciation for their efforts as we have tried to be ready to play at a moment’s notice in an attempt to honor those requests to play.

However, in light of the most recent reclosing orders, it now appears that there simply will not be enough summer left to be able to have a season.  Knowing how badly many of our players want to get back to the diamonds and to see their friends again, it was very difficult for the board to make the decision to cancel the 2020 Spring season, but reluctantly, we have agreed that we must.

Most expenditures incurred in a season must be paid prior to the start of a season and JOBL has done that for the 2020 season (for instances, over $8,000 was paid for insurance that we will not be using or $800 to the County for a snack-shack we can’t open, along with many other expenses normally incurred).   However, we at JOBL understand the economic hardships this pandemic has created so, therefore, will be refunding the entire registration fee paid, minus the cost of uniforms.

Several parents have asked if their fees could be applied to next season.  Yes, we can do that but we will have to know right away as we are now in the process of gathering information necessary to issue refunds.  Should you wish for the fees you have paid to be applied to next season, you will have to let us know by August 1, otherwise a refund will be issued.  If you wish to receive a refund, you do not have to reply as we will assume that a refund is requested.

You may have noticed the “JOBL thank you to essential workers” signs throughout the area.  JOBL wants to thank, not only all essential workers, for their dedication and efforts during these troubling times, but especially any and all JOBL individuals who are essential workers who so selfishly unselfishly gave their time and effort to getting all of us through the shut-ins and closures.  THANK YOU.

Again, we are very disappointed in having to cancel, but in the interest of keeping all our players safe and well in these uncertain times, we did what we thought best for our players, coaches and fans.  Be safe and, hopefully, we will see you next season.
